Dreaming of a mountain holiday but unsure if you can handle it? Worry no more! Join us on our 12-day Ghorepani Trek with Mardi Himal Base Camp adventure – a short, affordable, and incredibly scenic journey designed just for you.
This trek offers a perfect mix of stunning mountain views, peaceful walks, and cozy mountain lodges. You’ll be immersed in the beauty of sunlit peaks, waterfalls cascading through deep gorges, and serene evenings in the heart of nature.
In just 12 days, we combine two of the most beautiful destinations in the Annapurna region: the famous Ghorepani trek and the awe-inspiring Mardi Himal Base Camp. Our journey starts with the Ghorepani trek, taking you to the picturesque Gurung village of Ghorepani, located at 2,874 meters. Situated 270 km west of Kathmandu, it serves as the gateway to Poon Hill, which offers panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, the Annapurna range, Tukuche, Nilgiri, Barah Shikhar, and the iconic Fishtail peak.
Next, we head to the Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,550 meters, nestled within the Annapurna Natural Reserve. Established in 2012, this route takes you through expansive valleys and along a high ridge, offering breathtaking views of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) at 6,993 meters. The Mardi Himal trek is a more secluded route, providing a peaceful contrast to the bustling Annapurna trails.
Throughout the trek, you’ll encounter diverse communities, including the Gurungs, Magars, Chhetris, and Ghales, known for their hospitality and rich cultural heritage. Experience the harmonious blend of Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism, enriching your journey.
Our moderate-level Ghorepani Trek with Mardi Himal Base Camp is ideal for those seeking a short but fulfilling escape from city life. We can’t wait to share this unforgettable adventure with you, allowing you to immerse in nature and experience the tranquil beauty of the mountains.

Best Time for the Ghorepani Trek with Mardi Himal Base Camp
The Ghorepani and Mardi Himal regions typically experience a mild climate year-round, making them great trekking destinations. However, the best time to embark on the Ghorepani Trek with Mardi Himal Base Camp is between September and November. These autumn months follow the monsoon season, bringing clear skies, fresh air, and breathtaking views, perfect for trekking.
Spring (March to April) is another excellent time, with dry weather, cool temperatures, and sunny days. This season is especially beautiful as the rhododendrons bloom, filling the landscape with vibrant colors. May, though, tends to be hotter and brings the arrival of the monsoon season, resulting in increased clouds and showers.
Winter (December to February) offers pleasant daytime temperatures, but it can get quite cold at higher altitudes. Despite the chill, the clear skies provide stunning views, and the trails are less crowded, offering a more peaceful experience.
The worst time to visit is between June and August, during the monsoon. The days are hot and humid, with frequent rains at night, making trekking difficult and uncomfortable.

Maximum/Minimum Distance Walked Per Day
Our 12-day Ghorepani Trek with Mardi Himal Base Camp includes 8 days of hiking. Each trekking day consists of 5 to 6 hours of walking, allowing for a gradual ascent to help you adjust to the increasing altitude.
While the trek is not overly difficult, it is not a light walk. The trek concludes on Day 10 with an easy 2-hour descent from Low Camp to Siding Village, making it the easiest day.
The most demanding day is Day 9, when we hike for 7 to 8 hours from High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp and back to Low Camp, marking the longest and toughest stretch of the journey.
Difficulty and Acclimatization
This trek is rated as moderately strenuous, falling between grades one and two. The highest altitude you will reach is 4550 meters at Mardi Himal Base Camp.
As you ascend, overnight stays will progressively increase in altitude, which allows for proper acclimatization before reaching heights above 4000 meters. The biggest challenge comes on the day we trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp, but with a steady pace and proper acclimatization, this section is manageable.
After Poon Hill, the trek becomes easier with short descents, giving you plenty of time to rest and recover.
Accommodation is provided in cozy lodges with basic amenities, ensuring comfort as you rest each night.
Can a Beginner Participate in this Trek?
Yes! The Ghorepani Trek with Mardi Himal Base Camp is suitable for beginners, families, kids, and seniors who wish to experience Nepal’s stunning natural beauty.

From Swanta, you’ll continue on to Khopra Danda, before heading to Tadapani and ultimately reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp.
Alternatively, you can skip the Ghorepani section and head straight to Mardi Himal Base Camp. Starting from Pokhara, you’ll trek through Pothana, Forest Camp, and High Camp before reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp. You’ll then descend to Siding and return to Pokhara.

Meals include a variety of options, such as traditional Dal Bhat, chowmein, momos, pizza, pancakes, and porridge, along with seasonal fruits.
