Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Nepal

Welcome to Nepal! After your arrival at Kathmandu’s International Airport, our friendly team will warmly greet you. Take a scenic 30-minute drive through the lively streets of Kathmandu, with a glimpse of the snow-covered Himalayas in the distance. Check into your hotel and take time to rest and refresh. Later, our guide will meet with you to go over the detailed itinerary for your Island Peak expedition. If you need any trekking gear, our guide will help you secure it in the Thamel area. The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore local restaurants serving Nepali and international cuisine.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2800 m) and Trek to Phakding

Early morning, we depart for a thrilling 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, where we’ll be greeted by magnificent views of Everest, Manaslu, and Kanchenjunga. Upon arrival at Lukla, we begin our trek to Phakding, mostly downhill, making it an easier walk. We’ll cross the Dudh Koshi River, pass through villages like Chheplung and Chaurikharka, and finally reach Phakding for our overnight stay.

Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

The trek today takes us along the Dudh Koshi River, through the villages of Benkar and Monjo, leading to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing the Hillary Suspension Bridge, we ascend to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Everest region. We’ll enjoy views of Everest’s southern face and the surrounding peaks.

Day 04: Acclimatization Hike to Everest View Hotel

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, a crucial step to ensure your body adjusts to the altitude. We will take a short hike to the Everest View Hotel, offering stunning views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other peaks. Afterward, we return to Namche for the night.

Day 05: Trek from Namche to Phortse

We descend into the Dudh Koshi Valley, passing through villages like Sanasa and Mongla Danda, before continuing our climb toward Phortse, a quiet village offering beautiful mountain views.

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche

Day 07: Hike to Nangkartshang Hill

This morning we will ascend to Nangkartshang Hill for a panoramic view of Everest, Lhotse, Island Peak, Ama Dablam, and many other towering peaks. After enjoying the vistas, we descend back to Dingboche for the night.

Day 08: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche

Today, we make our way to Lobuche, passing through Thukla Pass, where we’ll visit the Everest Memorial. The views of Lobuche and Ama Dablam are magnificent.

Day 09: Trek to Gorakshep, Visit EBC, and Return

Day 10: Summit Kala Patthar and Return to Dingboche

Day 11: Trek to Chhukung

Day 12: Trek to Island Peak Base Camp

Day 13: Summit Island Peak and Return to Chhukung

We begin our ascent to Island Peak early in the morning, using headlamps to navigate the icy terrain. The climb offers spectacular views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Baruntse, and more. After summiting, we descend to base camp and return to Chhukung.

Day 14: Descend to Tengboche

After the summit, we begin our descent to Tengboche, passing through the serene villages of Pangboche and Deboche. We may choose to rest here or continue on to Tengboche for the night.

Day 15: Trek to Namche Bazaar

Day 16: Trek Back to Lukla

Day 17: Return Helicopter Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

Instead of trekking back to Kathmandu, we’ll take a thrilling helicopter ride from Lukla back to Kathmandu. This scenic flight offers a bird’s-eye view of the majestic Himalayas, providing an unforgettable end to your expedition.

Day 18: Departure

Best Time for Island Peak Climbing (Return via Helicopter)

Spring (March to May):

  • Ideal for clear views of the peaks and lush landscapes.

  • Snow-capped mountains provide stunning backdrops.

  • Temperatures range from 15°C to 20°C at lower altitudes, and -5°C to -10°C at higher elevations.

  • Nights can drop to -10°C to -15°C at higher camps (above 5,000 m).

Autumn (September to November):

  • Drier climate, stable weather conditions.

  • Temperatures between 10°C to 15°C during the day.

  • At higher elevations, temperatures may drop to -10°C at night.

  • Ideal conditions for climbing with clear skies and moderate winds.

Winter (December to February):

  • Cold and clear conditions.

  • Mornings and nights are much colder, with temperatures dropping to -15°C to -20°C.

  • Weather is usually stable, but some days may be too harsh for climbing due to the cold.

Summer (June to August):

  • Not recommended due to monsoon rains, which cause slippery trails and poor visibility.

  • High chances of avalanches and rockfalls due to wet conditions.

Difficulty and Acclimatization

  • No Mountaineering Skills Required: Basic climbing experience is recommended, especially for ice axe and crampon usage.

  • Acclimatization: Gradual ascent for better acclimatization to avoid altitude sickness.
